Louis Van Amstel is a 3x world champion ballroom dancer. He appears regularly on Dancing with the Stars as one of the professional male leads. If you've never seen or followed the show here's the low down. It has the highest viewer audience of any show on television. They do 2 seasons per year for 10 weeks each. He is also a choreographer for "So You think You can Dance".
There are 12 celebrities who have varying abilities for dancing. It is the job of the pro to bring the celebrity up to speed and dance at least one high level professional dance each week. They work about 8 hrs a day to get the celebs in shape and make them look professional. Louis is a high energy guy but very down to earth with little or no BS.
He has developed this dance/exercise program called LaBlast ala Zumba. His program uses the basics of many of the traditional ballroom dances such as the Cha Cha, Jive, Paso Doble, Rumba, Waltz, Merengue, Samba, Salsa, Disco.
I got word of the first LaBlast certification, taught by Louis, in Arizona so I signed up and spent 2 days with 8 other women and Louis doing his training to become a certified LaBlast Instructor.
A week or so later, someone sent an email that he was coming back to do a couple of master classes at dance studios. I asked if he could add Camelback Village while he was here and he and I texted back and forth for 2 days to get it set up.
His fee is $750. All my ladies said they were willing to pay $20 each if he would come. I limited the number of participants to 40 so we wouldn't be too crowded.
Check out the great video of this fun energetic class. http://youtu.be/JZ6uZ6gbgYE
