Parivrtta Trikonasana

(Revolved Triangle Pose)

Yoga Pose of the Day: Parivrtta Trikonasana

Jennifer Wolff Keller - DC Ranch Teacher

Yoga poses are therapeutic in nature. Not only do you feel good all over when you practice, but you can target specific issues by choosing specific poses. Jennifer is demonstrating Parivrtta Trikonasna, a very challenging standing twist that is useful in helping a variety of issues that can come up in the mid section of the body. It can aid in  addressing digestive problems, in addition to  relieving lower backache and sciatica. The pose requires considerable flexibility in the hamstrings, torso and shoulders.

Revolved triangle pose:

  • Strengthens and stretches the legs
  • Stretches the hips and spine
  • Opens the chest to improve breathing
  • Relieves mild back pain
  • Stimulates the abdominal organs
  • Improves sense of balance

Revolved triangle pose is often used as a counterpose to Trikonasana/Triangle. It also has a preparatory pose for seated forward bends and twists.
